Free FHO Scheduling Tool
FHO Scheduler helps FHO leads and administrators plan evening, weekend, holiday, and locum coverage, balance assignments across members, review coverage gaps, and publish a clear group schedule.
Built specifically for Ontario FHO scheduling and available free from Dr. Plus.
FHO Scheduler is a free web-based scheduling tool from Dr. Plus for Ontario Family Health Organization (FHO) leads and administrators. It is designed for the operational work of organizing after-hours coverage across weekday evenings, weekends, holidays, physician absences, exemptions, and locum coverage.
Instead of maintaining a group schedule manually, FHO Scheduler brings recurring coverage requirements, physician availability, workload share, schedule generation, review, finalization, and later amendments into one organized workflow.
Coordinate group-wide after-hours coverage and review whether scheduled requirements are being met.
Maintain physician availability, absences, scheduling patterns, exemptions, locum coverage, and published schedules.
Generate and adjust assignments, identify gaps, manage replacements, and distribute the final schedule.
01
Add the group information, recurring evening/weekend/holiday coverage patterns, default locations, and applicable exemptions or special arrangements.
02
Add members, scheduling preferences, workload shares, absences, hard limits, usual locations, and locums covering specific physicians.
03
Generate a draft schedule based on the information entered. Review assignments, workload balance, coverage gaps, conflicts, and items that need attention.
04
Finalize covered weeks, preserve a published snapshot, and later amend, swap, replace, duplicate, or cancel sessions when circumstances change.
Plan recurring weekday-evening, weekend, and holiday sessions for the group.
Generate draft assignments using availability, scheduling preferences, workload share, exemptions, and hard limits.
See unassigned sessions, coverage gaps, availability conflicts, and other items that need attention before finalizing.
Lock completed weeks, preserve a published snapshot, and reopen a finalized week when a legitimate change is required.
Link a locum to the member they are covering for a defined date range so coverage can be planned without rebuilding the physician's scheduling setup.
Export or distribute schedules using the application's available CSV, iCalendar, printable, PDF, and email workflows.
Locum Coverage
Link a locum to the FHO member they are covering and define the coverage dates. During that period, FHO Scheduler can use the covered member's scheduling patterns, rotation eligibility, and workload share when preparing assignments.
Outside the defined coverage period, the locum is not scheduled for that member's group obligations.
Ontario FHO Scheduling
FHO Scheduler is designed around the standard categories and operational requirements involved in Ontario FHO after-hours scheduling, including weekday evenings, weekend coverage, holidays, group size, exemptions, and documented special arrangements.
The application tracks requirements against the schedule you build and surfaces gaps, conflicts, and ambiguous cases for review rather than silently guessing.
Finalized weeks are locked from routine editing so a published schedule is not changed accidentally. When a change is required, the week can be amended, adjusted, and finalized again.
Regenerating draft coverage does not overwrite finalized or individually locked sessions.
Swap compatible assignments, replace a physician, duplicate a session, or amend a finalized week when needed.
The application prompts you when schedule changes may need communication. Messages are not sent automatically without your approval.
FHO Scheduler is provided free by Dr. Plus Physician Services Inc. for FHO leads and administrators who need a clearer way to organize after-hours coverage.
FHO Scheduler is an administrative planning tool and is not an official Ontario Ministry of Health system. It helps organize schedules based on the information, settings, and rules entered in the application. FHO groups remain responsible for confirming current Ministry requirements, contractual obligations, exemptions, group-specific arrangements, and the accuracy of the finalized schedule.
